The word is unusual – Out of the ordinary. I love the things that are out of the norm and just a tad old. I discovered a love for photography in college and then furthered that by honing black and white and vintage photography. Why? Because nothing beats a sepia or vintage-tinted portrait done in monochrome. There’s a power to it and a depth that comes from the simplicity of it. I decided to marry this skill with a few loves I have.
One area where this works well is family photos, and with kids. In a modern era, it’s nice to see something that feels real. Think modern cinema. It’s too sharp. Finding touch with people means making something real. And making something real brings people closer together. It makes the whole experience so much more connected and memorable.
Another place this works is Comicons and Renfaires. No explanations needed, but just for posterity’s sake, these two concepts were meant to be. Events like these draw out the most creative and connected people you’ll ever meet. They like tangible in a digital world, and they know real value. Cosplayers have a certain pride that is photo-worthy, and, after years of doing cosplay myself, you want a good photograph. And not just good – the best and unique, as is well-deserved. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good tinted black and white after they donned their alter ego of Bjorn Hammerskeld the Mighty Hero?
This is where my focus is. Going to con and faire events to take photos and taking photos of families is my area of expertise. I’ve spent years attending Cons, making cosplay for Cons, being a vendor at one, working with families and kids, and talking with local people lamenting that there is a lack of good and welcoming photography. I want to fill that void for those seeking to express their individuality and persona to the world. If you’re one of those, check out my contact page and let's get you picture perfect.
